Tarmac to dark grey resin in three days

A tired 68m² front driveway rebuilt with a permeable resin-bound surface and granite sett edging.

How it was done

  1. 1

    Stripping the old tarmac

    The cracked tarmac and weed-filled edges were dug out to a depth of 150mm, leaving a clean, level formation across the full width of the drive.

  2. 2

    Laying the sub-base

    MOT Type 1 was spread and whacker-plated in two layers, then finished with a permeable open-graded base to let surface water drain away naturally.

  3. 3

    Mixing and trowelling the resin

    The dark grey marble aggregate was forced-mixed with UV-stable resin in small batches and hand-trowelled to a smooth 18mm finish before it cured.

  4. 4

    Setts, edging and finish

    A black granite sett border frames the drive and ties it to the pavement, giving a crisp edge that will not crumble at the kerb line.
